[If nothing else, this sort of broadcasting and storage and communication device isn't entirely unfamiliar to Ming. But everything else certainly is. First and foremost her own body. Where's the pulsing thrum of her magical energy? Even the mark on her chest is dull and decorative. It's a frightening thing to see. She can feel the passage of time, something only once felt briefly. And terrifyingly. The seconds are moving by her, taking her with them.]

[She realizes she can't feel any any magical energy. Not in the atmosphere, not in the earth, not in the large creature that follows her. It's an unfamiliar beast, but one that looks as though it would be right at home on the paradisaical beaches of her island kingdom.]

[If this is a kidnapping, it's a frightfully strange one. She's nowhere near Numara. This place isn't familiar at all! But she's not restrained. Quite the opposite. She's made it to a bench in the little village she awoke in, and then that overwhelming feeling that threatens to steal her consciousness slips upon her and she sits, shaking and confused, to fiddle with the portable teleson.]

What...what is this place?

[There's a high note of fear and confusion in Ming's lightly accented voice.]

Something's wrong...something's terribly wrong...what's been done to me?

What's going to happen to me?

[Without her magical energy, what is she? Her magic is her soul, her consciousness, her very being! She's never felt so tied to this human shaped shell in all of her existence. She's certain she can feel the decay and dying of mortal cells. Is this mortal death?]

Please...if someone can help me...

[It doesn't occur to her to explain further - there's not a single sentient thing in her world that doesn't know her face and who she is. What she is.]

[Surely someone can aide her!]

[ Scar watches in silence for several moments before turning on a private video feed. He doesn't care if it's not standard practice; he's not willingly splashing his face all over the place. ]

There is no reason to panic. You have been taken here against your will, but nothing is going to harm you.

Any sort of extra-human abilities you had before are gone, now. The creature is here to help you.

This place is no threat. It's made you human, if you weren't before. I know how disorienting it is having all of your magic stripped away if that's what's worrying you.

This place is called Johto. It'll be your home for now. Everything you left behind will be the same when you return, so there's no need to worry about that.

This is most certainly not my home, and can't be called such simply because I'm presently here! My home is Numara!

No, you don't understand. I am magic. My soul, my mind, my body...they're all magical energy!

[It isn't like...oh....Jansen or Cooke losing their magic, they existed separately from it. Oh, she wishes Sarah had made more sense in all her attempts to explain what they are....]

[ Scar is actually quite patient, with this. He maintains what is, for him, a gentle tone. ]

There are others of a similar nature to yours. They were incapable of surviving without a vital energy source. But this world changes you entirely. You are simply a human, now.

[Oh! Oh! Of course. Yes, that makes more sense. She's used to being altered in order to exist in different worlds. It was how she ended up 'human' in the first place. If this is yet another world, it's fair to assume that like her world and Plank, the natural laws are different. And so would be her body.]

Then...my energy has simply...been made wholly flesh to exist comfortably in this world?

[ Scar doesn't really know what she means by energy, but he's going to assume that that's a yes. ]

Yes. For all who have been taken here, this is an entirely different world with different laws of reality. Our bodies and abilities are adjusted accordingly.

That's an experience I'm familiar with, I left my homeworld long ago to inhabit another. My physical state was altered, as what I was before couldn't exist in that world. And so it's happened again.

Oh, but I don't like this. I feel so oddly empty! But heavy...my body feels like a prison, something constricting me...

You will adjust to it in time. There are many others here who would be sympathetic to your situation.

Well, that's certainly heartening to hear. Oh, not that others are in such a predicament, but it's reassuring to know my body isn't in the process of dying around me!

[She lets out a small, nervous laugh. She'd been very sure there, for a moment, that was precisely what was happening to her.]

Goodness, I'm sorry, I'm certain you have better things to do than play docent to me, but could I ask you a few more questions? I'm...not used to being out on my own, or in a strange place...

[ No, Ming, you are definitely not... dying. Scar manages to keep the confusion in his expression to a minimum. ]

I do not mind. I'm not busy.

[ And this is a plight he's used to dealing with... almost daily, at this point. ]

At least you would have a home to go back home to. Lucky you. But while you're stuck here until this world sends you back, make the most of it.

Yes, and I'm a goddess where I'm from. Welcome to being made human, and having time affect you. It's not the most pleasant way to have things happen, but there's nothing you can do about it. You'll learn really quick that you are not the only one who this has happened to. There's many others like us here. The sooner you accept that, the sooner you can learn that this... this place isn't as bad as you think it is. Think of it as a second chance at living a normal as you can get it life.

[Ming arches her eyebrow. One would think a self-proclaimed goddess would have better manners. She's already frightened and confused, being condescended to and berated only adds a cod sliver of anger to it all.]

There is no name beyond "the world of Pokémon." We do not know why we have been brought here, only that it has been happening for at least five years.

The creature with you is a Pokémon. This world revolves around them heavily. They are more intelligent than animals, and most cohabitate well with people. Everyone starts with one, but you can gather more, if you wish.

[ Scar taps the ground next to him to call over his Skitty as another example. ]

I've seen plenty of people like you come into this world. It happens on a bi-weekly basis. You're not the only one torn from your home and loved ones.

[Nope. She left those manners behind a while ago with some of the things that have happened to her here. Besides, you're not a kid. Adults should be made of sterner stuff.]

I'm just telling you how to world works. Getting used to it quickly will be the only way you won't go insane. Your Pokémon, the creature with you, will be your friend if you let it be. It'll protect you, care for you, and show you the way you need to go. They're as intelligent as humans. Don't push it away. They have their own sort of magic.

The people here can definitely help you with any questions you might have. [She won't say don't worry, because frankly, that's the most useless thing to say right now.] Many people here are also quite eager to help, so I don't want to bog you down with repeating anything you might have heard already...
